Hello,
First time poster but long time reader of the forum. I recently upgraded from a 25 year old Still 025 to an Echo CS4910 with an 18" Bar.

Difficult first start but since then has been great. I noticed after each run I have some oil spotting on the muffler. I have included a few pictures below. It has been a long time since I have had a new saw and was looking for some advice as to if this is normal? Saw runs great with no issues I can see or hear. I am running Echo's Red Armor 50:1.

I have about 1 hour on the saw as of today, stock no modifications. Thank you for any insight.

Best,
Matt

I'm not an expert, but it looks insignificant. I wouldn't worry about it unless it get worse. BTW, that's the saw I would buy. Difficult start could cause it to flood then the gas evaporates leaving the oil.

Just a quick update to this. I have run the saw through another two tanks of fuel. Under load or high throttle settings you can see oil coming through the upper area of the muffler, almost bubbling through that upper lip. I am running Echo's Red Armor mix. Run it through three other pieces of equipment with no such symptoms. Saw runs well, no smoke during operation. Any idea what causes this and is there an issue?

Just purchased a echo501p one month ago . After running 10 to 12 tanks of fuel through my spark arrestor screen was totally plugged up .Cleaned up and watching to see if the problem persist. Setting seem okay and runs o ok when not plugged up.

If you bought the saw at a chainsaw shop , I would take it back and have them take a look at it. It is likely running too rich. Better too rich than lean though. I bought an Echo 501P about 2 weeks ago . I didnt notice any oil coming out at all. I bought it slightly used . A guy traded in his Husky 550XP for the Echo 510P. Two weeks later he comes in and wants his Husky back. I bought it for $408 plus tax. I had a few tanks in it. It's an ok saw. It really wasn't the saw some say it was , but it seems like a good saw.

I called the local shop where I purchased the saw and brought it in for service. We shall see what they say/find.

Honestly my feeling is that the 4910 is the strong value in 50 cc saw category as the 590 is a great buy at 399. In the 60cc saw category. Just my opinion. I also own Stihl saw so no strong bias in brands.

The Echo 590 sure is a lot of saw for $400 with tax. Just saw it a few months ago for $379. That is just under $400 after tax in Wisconsin. However, I am a little suspicious that it has a lot of Chinese parts and assembly in the 590. How else could it be $200 cheaper than the Echo 620P? My 501 sais assembled in the USA in the front. However, the bar is very likelt made in China. It doesnt say China on it but at the store I see Oregon and Echo bars that say made in China. The chains all seem to be made in USA .
