Important Recall and Replacement Notice

Re: Maxim Apogee 9.1mm & 9.5 Pinnacle Dynamic Climbing Lines

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Maxim is announcing a voluntary recall of Maxim's Apogee 9.1mm Dynamic Climbing Line (These Climbing lines were sold to consumers from August 2006 through May 2008. Both colors yellow and fire will be included in the recall.) and Maxim's Pinnacle 9.5mm Blue std Dry Dynamic Climbing Line (These Climbing lines were sold to consumers from February 2007 through May 2008).

Description: Maxim Apogee 9.1mm Dynamic Climbing Line is a 48 carrier climbing rope. Two colors were available: Yellow w/Black, and Red w/Yellow. Click here for photos and affected lot/job numbers.

Description: Maxim Pinnacle 9.5mm Blue Std Dry Dynamic Climbing line is a 48 carrier climbing rope. One color is effected: Blue. Click here for photos and affected lot/job numbers.

Reason: The reason for this recall is the product may not pass the required 5 falls, and may pose a serious risk over time.

Consumers are to immediately stop using the dynamic climbing lines and to contact Maxim by phone (866-617-9038). Consumers should return the recalled dynamic climbing lines directly to Maxim for a product replacement.

The News Release will be accessible on the CPSC's website, www.cpsc.gov, and Maxim's website, www.neropes.com. We ask that you make this information available to your associates as soon as possible so they may make contact with any possible consumers by whatever manner you believe appropriate.

Maxim / New England Ropes greatly appreciates your assistance in this important effort and your continuing support of Maxim / New England Ropes and its products.

9.5 mm? This is tree work. Are you sure you want to be messing around with that?
Yeah, yeah if you can't catch my drift then you haven't been at it long enough... sure as hell not long enough to wear out that little rope.

don't think anyone is using 9.5 dynamic line for tree work. at least I hope not....

loads of AS folks may also be climbing something else besides trees :greenchainsaw:

it's good to get the word out ...

Fortunately for the tree-folk, this recall will not affect 99.9% of us. This is directed mostly at rock climbers.

It is quite responsible of NER to take the extra step and notify us via the message boards just in case. Tree guys don't use dynamic rope, but some of us are rock climbers, too. I wouldn't have heard about this recall otherwise.

Thanks, NER!

well i don't know but you never do. I had some rock rope I used way back when for trees BUT I was very careful with it and it didn't last long.
