Sent my Ole Jony 2149 over to Dan Henry for a woods mod … turned out must have one of the first models and had a barrel on it designed like the 346XP. Dan has done several saws for me and knew about what I was looking for. Said he never seen a 2149 with a barrel like this one and had to play around with it a little to get the numbers dialed in … hope he saved them!! Run a few tanks of gas through it and it’s set up no load rpm 14,500 – 15,000. Cold starts second or third pull … warm .. shove compression release in and yank … one pull. Sissy saw ?? .. Yep! but she sure is sweet. Haven’t timed it against the PP 346 .. 2055 .. 026 .. yet .. but think it will hold its own. In other words if you by chance run across one with this barrel design .. it’s worth you trouble to put a little green and time into it.

Yank to start?

There should be no "Yank" to start a warm saw. The warm saw should start with a gentle tug of 12" or less on the rope, the first time the piston comes up to fire it should fire and start, if the saw is warm. There should be no need to pull it any futher. If you're yanking on it you are doing something wrong or your saw needs a tune-up.

Short gentle pull, B.S. They start like about any other saw of their size. Do what works for you.

I sell the things, I see no starting peculiarities about 2149s, of course the model has changed to 2152, still starts the same.

I think the term "yank" was used in jest!

Better watchout for the "yank" police!!! Then again it all depends on what you are yanking!!!;)
