Bin Lurkin here for sometime now. GREAT site. Love the Art Martin thread and the 056 rebuild thread by Lakeside. The knowledge available and willingness to share is super. I'm fairly new to saw work, been a mechanic for several years, all 4 cycle stuff.
Along with my two son in laws and #1 son in laws father we cut 40 to 50 cord of firewood a year, mostly red fir and tamarack. Now to my problem.
Son in law came by an 064 recently that needed work, would fire and try to run, spit gas all over the place. Bad fuel line. Replace fuel line, put in about a 1/4 tank of gas, started up and ran fine after about a 1/2 dozen pulls, idles good, accepts accelerater good. Life is good....shut it off pat my self on the back and think son in law will be proud of me.
Fast forwar to next day, son in law comes over, I proudly take him out to the shop to demonstrate my acompishment in repair of his saw. Grab the starter rope give in a pull, saw jumps all over the place...what the h..l, couple more pulls, same thing. Notice raw gas running out of muffler.. , .Grab tools and start pullin things apart. Pull the fuel line off of carb nipple and fuel bubbles out ??? how can this be, shouldn't be any pressure in the fuel tank.
Dumd founded we talk about the problem for a bit and come up with no answeres. Leave the saw over night, go out this a.m pull the saw over a few times and gas is squirts ever where, out the intake port, out the spark plug hole, out the rubber nipple below the carb.
Need some HELP, what gives???How does the fuel tank get pressurized? Why does the crankcase fill with gas while the saw just sits there overnight...
I know you guys know, and it probably a simple fits, but I at a loss...
Sorry for such a long post, I'm normally not this wordy...
Thanks for any and all assistance
