hey y'all

my husband told me about your site and i decided as a fellow lover of the woods that i would extend a hello to everyone and continue to read and learn from your posts. I feel from what i have read that everyone here offers very good information and discussion in regards to topics that i find interesting. The picture featured with my name is actually the alter in which i got married in front of with my husband outside of our home a few months ago....our wood trailer with a 041 farmboss, and some flowers picked by our friends in the saw box....well anyway, a hello to you all!

Whatever do you mean? LOL Chivalry isn't dead here on AS...its just kinda in short supply sometimes. Along with civility, humility, and to some extent, ability.
Samantha...welcome to AS.

It's nice to have you aboard, and very interesting wedding story! It's also nice to see that a lady is so interested in firewood. My wife, God bless her, tried to help me with firewood years ago, mostly carrying and stacking it. After she got bit TWO TIMES in a row on her ****s by spiders we both said "that's okay, I'll do the firewood"! :hmm3grin2orange: Welcome and enjoy the site!

thanks again for the hearty welcome....nice to see a woman's company is enjoyed in the woods....in many ways i was the lucky one though...because i was raised in the boondocks in the Adirondack mountains and the only men i tended to attract were city slickers who liked Lan parties and bars....this amazing man that i married shared my interest and both of us having been raised cutting, loading, hauling, and stacking wood and i found a kindred spirit and a good partner in many other things....we also love to hike, snowboard, and camp....men like that, even though i live in one of the largest state parks in the united states are hard to find...too lazy this day in age....and the fact that he found a forum with a whole slew of nice people who share the same interest definitely makes a good past time for those times you just want to sit on your butt once in a while and have good "conversation"...thanks again you guys! (and girls...i see there are more coming to the site...rock on sisters!)

Hi Samantha

I don't know just how remote the area you live in is, but the folks at theotherpower.com are a group of people that live off the power grid and generate their own power by building their own wind turbines from scratch. They do an admirable job of teaching folks how to become energy independent when they live in remote areas, or just want to become self sufficient in supplying their energy needs.

If that appeals to you in anyway, I recommend you checking their web site out, they are an excellent source of do it yourself information.

Welcome and enjoy!

it's funny you mention that, because wind mills (the largest i've ever seen) are being put up on land in Malone, NY (about 45 minutes from my house) and there is a lot of people not wanting them here...i for one am all for them....they say though that the power generated with be sold mostly to canada though...i don't know how all of that works...but one of the engineers for the project just moved across the road from me from california....he isn't a man of many words and i haven't pried much about it...but that is all i know....i'm for the wind power! Water power too!
