Just picked up a new micro pulley at EMS. It is called the OSCILLANTE. It only weighs 50 grams and seems like it works well. I will test it this week and let you guys know. It was only 10 bucks compared to 20 for the other micro pulleys.

Any of you guys used one before?

Looks OK to me. I only use micro pulleys as a fair lead anyway, so the 2kN working load limit isn't a factor.

I'll occassionally use one for MA on a big pull or a speed line.

What do you plan to do with it?

i own 2 of them for my rock and ice kit. i don't mix my tree and rec climbing gear. i've carried and trained with them for crevasse rescue. they are commonly carried among the mountaineering crowd but the dmm revolver biner may become the rescue pulley of choice.

i use a gibbs and a tautline so i can't help you much.

The oscillante was the first pulley I ever bought as a fair lead. It's alright, but the CMI pullies are similar in price and size, but are stronger and come in pretty colors!

I've used the $12 CMi pulleys for a long time. They work great as slack tenders or for rigging too. 5k# breaking strength but the Cool Factor is lower than the $22 ones from CMI :)

I'll pay the extra $10 for the higher breaking strength, and most importantly, the higher CF. :)

REI has their own branded little pulley that looks like the CMI cheapee. The REI is rated at 20KN. They sell it for $10. It will work as a fairlead pulley but it is a bit longer from the holes to the sheave than the high Cool Factor CMI MicroPulley. The Oscillante is very short coupled and will probably be a decent fair lead. The High Cool Factor pulley is not only heavier in rating but also a pretty near perfect piece of gear.

I use the mini's from CMI for slack tenders and TIP. I have never tried anything but the $19 ones in Sherrill, I assume those are the high CF? I sure like them alot.
