i will be getting a new band saw mill soon. i will be mounting it on a trailer.i need to get a 12 volt winch. the biggest log i will drag on is 10 to 12 feet long and 25-26 dia.the question is how big or costly will i need? k

A 12 ft long log with a 26" siam represents about 44 cubic ft.
Assuming the densest wood you will get is something like Osage that is 64 lb/cuft that represents a weight of ~2800 lbs so a 3000 lb winch would do it but I would go bigger than this maybe 4000 or 5000 lbs
