Hey guys just got my new website... Let me know what you think.

Ok,

1.) As a viewer/surfer myself, I don't like to scroll to see the whole picture. It's like here looking at a large photo and you have to scroll back and forth to do the reading. When I see your site, I have to scroll 232 pixels to see the whole thing. I make my sites so it fits the window frame in most all the major browsers.

2.) "aboriculturally" on main page is a typo.

3.) Picture file size are a tad large, but better than most. 72kb of image is fair. For slow dial up users, they would take a bit longer to view. If you make pic file size smaller, the page/images would download faster. Optimizing load speed is something many webdesigners/masters overlook.(minor with your site and not a big issue)

4.) "We have hopefully formatted our site for ease of use. On the left side, you can find our service."

There is no left side.

If I gave it more time, I can find more, but that's a start. Overall it looks nice and clean. I like it. If you're interested in being seen by the search engines to get the organic results... or natural search results, contact me and I help you there. With my sites, I get good search engine traffic which is crucial for picking up business on the net.

Nice job!

very nice! i want to upgrade mine myself. i feel it is somewhat simple. my guy is learning animation and wants me to think about that. i'd love some feedback. thanks! go to: masterarbor.com

Thanks

StihlRockin, I got the typo fixed and the navigation, wow what a oops. When I first started putting it together I was going to have the navigation on the left side, it just didn't look right.

I worked with the pictures on the main page and decided, that I would settle with a little slower upload for the size. Just didn't like the look of the smaller pics.

I was going for a clean look so I am glad you like it. I know its just a start and it will probably go through many of changes.

I would be very interested in the search engine tips.

masterarbor, I took a look and your right it is somewhat simple, remember safety first, safety last, and safety always.

masterarbor,

Animation only impresses the site owner, not the viewers. Flash is also the enemy of a site owner. Fancy stuff serves only to impress the owner. Surfers are looking for information and don't want to be distracted or bogged down with fancy stuff while searching. Animation is usually a larger file size too which adds to the download time. With male surfers, you have roughly 10 seconds to get their attention. With woman, 1/2 that. LOL! So you better keep to the simple and offer your message in a clear and precise manner. Many people are still on dialup and considerations should be made for that.

Green Options,

You like many others pass on the misnomer that the picture's physical size has to relate to the file size. They are two different things. Case in point; look below: The first pic is your picture and the next one I modified.

Picture above is 23kb in size.(approx)

While picture above is slightly under 9kb in size.

And, if you look at the picture below, it's only 80% the size, yet it's file size is 34.4kb... the smallest, yet largest file size.

Load times are minuscule in comparison, but if your site was graphic intensive, the larger file size pics would bog down the loading time for sure. Like I said, it's not that big a deal. I've seen much worse. LOL! Since these pictures are not that large in file size to begin with, noticeable differences will be hard to determine to the unknowing eye.
