Anyone seen or heard about the new Rayco RG1645 stumper? Saw the ad in the new Tree and Landscape Equipment Trader. Only a generic brochure on Rayco's website. 45 hp Kubota diesel, 4wd, looks like shaft driven from engine to differential on top of cutting wheel, then belt drive to cutter wheel. Sort of hard to tell from the pictures though. Looks intriguing, anyone seen one yet?

No, but I saw the same ad you mentioned. Looks like something I might need to add to my fleet in the future. I wonder what the price is on it? I will have to call our local dealer and check prices.

Something else new from Rayco. They no longer make the RG50 Super. Coming out this summer is the same machine with a Kabota 70 hp. Don't know what they are going to call it.

Is a wireless remote going to finally be available? :hmm3grin2orange:

I asked the dealer the same thing and he replied, "no". Here is a photo of my new machine. Debated on getting the Carlton SP7015 with Sandvik and wireless but did not like the looks of their slide on blade.

If you guys find anything out from your Rayco dealers let us know. No Rayco dealer up here in NW Oregon that I have found yet. Would be interesting to know the price and see one in person. Are they at the dealers yet?

Forget about the blade, have you ever run a 7015 with a sandvik, you'll love it

If they up the disc size on the "new"rg70 ill be interested,no remote thou bit disapointing.

Where did you get the pricing info from? Doesn't sound too bad, they really get you on the diesel engines....
Can you get it w/o the blade? I wonder how much it would shorten up the machine w/o it?
Seems like the wheel is a bit skinny @ 5/8" thick for that much horsepower, but that's what the online brochure said, tho it's a bit light on detail.

Bigstumps,

Did you really get yours for right at 20K? With the 4wd, Kubota, and Sandvik?

Anyway, I demo'ed the Kubota machine last year at Carlton factory, loved it. So what's intriguing is the 42hp Kubota diesel and 59" sweep. Rayco rep said the center of gravity is lower on the 1645 due to the engine not sitting just on top of the boom, but actually wraps around it and down. Also interesting is that Rayco went to a chain final drive instead of the poly chain. It's shaft drive from engine to differential above cutter wheel, then chain drive to cutter wheel. Wonder how that will work? Older Vermeer's had chain drive didn't they? Clutch engagement is still electric.

Also interesting is the two-lever system for controls. One for cutter wheel and boom functions and one for drive and steering functions. Reminds me of larger heavy equipment, backhoe's and stuff. Wonder how well it works for stumping?

Really wish Rayco would go wireless, but Carlton still has 'em beat there. Factory rep at Rayco said he didn't know of any plans to offer remote, but he said he couldn't rule it out in the future either.

I don't really know about Rayco's reliability in the past, but looks like alot of hp in a compact machine. I guess time will tell. BTW, a Rayco sales guy told me today they were $26K, but, who knows.

$20,000 - it was a demo machine they had been using.

I had some old chain drives with the oilers - you used to get a lot of chain wear/stretch, plus you had to turn on a drip oiler - a big mess. The chain was a lot cheaper than the Polychains but required a lot more maintenance - sprockets would wear too.

Looks like the Rayco has a little of everything in the drive, electric clutch, gearbox, and chain. I guess time will tell.

The dealer out of NC is pretty good on his pricing, don't know what he wants for this one.
