hey all i traded off my ported and mm 254xp
for a stock 262xp and im wondering how wide i
can mill with it. after testing it out today (with out mill)
i noticed that i has alot more torq then my 361
so the question is will this saw mill an 18 in oak
log better then the 361 or the same
i know i need a bigger saw but i don't have the funds as
i just bought my first house but as a pro chainsaw carver
i need some odd live edge slabs from time to time and
its just not economical to take one log to the mill

oh and also ive herd of a plate or something that allows you to use a stihl mount bar on a husky saw any one know what there called

thanks john

Baileys sells the bar adapter. It doesn't always work as it eats up some bar adjustment and you still gotta worry about the oil hole being in the right place.

No magic number for how wide your saw will cut, and I gave up arguing with people who want to mill with a small saw. I started out milling with a 33cc saw, so I guess anything is possible. :msp_rolleyes:

thanks for the info
i know that this saw is not optimal but cash is king
and i just cant float the bucks for a bigger saw now
im thinking next year or latter this summer im going to
get somthing in the 066 or bigger range but for now
im stuck with the smaller saws

also o a side note i bought the mill to do some of the special
cuts that a saw mill wont do or cant do so most of the
cuts i do with my mill are to make sings and plaques to carve
but the bug got me and i know im going to go bigger
