I have recently purchased a Ms 260 but later decided to upgrade to the Ms361. I am wondering what the break in period is for this saw and how to go about breaking it in?

There are a few schools of thought on this topic. I generally say to break a saw (or any thing else with an engine) the way it is going to be run. But It might not be a bad idea though to take it a bit easy on the first 2-3 tanks or so no full throttle out of the cut, general common sense. Stihl says to "not run the saw at high revs (full throttle off load) for the first three tank fillings."

I've never really done anything special with any new saw or saw, dirt bike, snowmobile, or any other 2 stroke I've rebuilt and had good luck.

It took about 10-12 tanks before my 361 was "broke in." They seem to make considerably better power when you get about that much run time on them. Congrats on the new saw - I'm sure you'll be pleased with it.
