We bought a Quadrafire 4300 steptop for the new house. I installed it on Friday, and fired it up that evening. Its a non-catalytic stove that has a secondary burn above the firebox by way of airtubes. It also has a rear draft for startup, and giving the fire a kick. The glass door gives a nice view of the fire, and so long as the wood is dry and fire hot, the glass stays clean.
The house isn't finished yet, so we used the stove to heat water, make coffee, and warm up a pre-made breakfast for Saturday morning.
Its not an inexpensive stove, but well made and reputedly efficient.
