New to chainsaws but wondering if this is in good shape

It looks in really nice condition but it comes down to what is your intended use for a saw. The 455 could last an occasional user many years if properly maintained. A few guys I know bought them and soon realized they are not pro grade saws,for them they became a money pit as they were used to running better built PRO grade saws like the 365, 266, 272 Husqvarna saws.

Would be mostly just firewood and stuff for around my house as anything needed higher end like at work we have 2 562xps to use

The 455 seemed a good saw for that sort of work, keep the chain very sharp, don`t force it to cut with even a semi dull chain it can cause the bar to get very hot and damage the bar pad where the bar clamps to the saw body. Maintain the fuel and bar oil systems very closely and it would last many years on light firewood duty.
