New to Milling

Hi everyone!! Have been following the site for a couple of months now and really enjoying it. Lots of great ideas and unbiased advice.

I pulled the trigger on getting a new Lucas 830 with a slabber. Waiting for it's arrival. We just purchased 150 acres on the Canadian shield in Ontario in the Kawartha Lakes area and hope to build in the new year. The property is covered in Oak and Pine. So I thought good time for a mill.

My first rookie question, on the Lucas they use a water bottle I'm assuming for removing sawdust and cooling. This morning it was -13 C. I'll have to empty it after every use, but doing it this if I'm just going in for lunch seems a bit of a pain. Does anyone put in a bit of alcohol or coolant/antifreeze?

On my friends band mill he uses windshield washer fluid.

There don't seem to be that many Lucas millers on AS but there are heaps on the Aussie wood workers (small milling) forum and they are a chatty helpful bunch and by far the most prominent posters.

I post pretty regularly on that site under the same nick.
