Hello all, my name is Wayne. I own and operate a small tree service in my local area. Through google I have found many answers to questions I have had since "getting into the business" on this site. I am hoping this will be a great place to pick up some more pointers and maybe share some cool experiences. After reviewing a few threads in this forum since joining I have high hopes. I guess I just wanted to say hi and thanks to the mods who keep this great site running for guys like me to learn and thanks to all the great people sharing all this helpful information! Hope I can give back half as much as I have already gotten out of this site.

Wow really, lower my expectations. Seems like there is a lot of good advice going around. Most of it seems common sense, and what the OP didnt want to hear... To be honest, most of the questions I have had were about equipment performance/reviews, and as most I like to vent about trials and tribulations. Cant a guy just be positive anymore?

Aliens became so commonplace on LV-426 that they were no longer news either.
Just ask Ripley.

I can see where this is headed.....
Well welcome and just remember, that bride got lots of good advise for her wedding night too, didn't keep her from getting ----(censored)---------- ass either.
Na, really, welcome. :hi:

A story huh, ok so maybe a year ago, I bought a couple saws. Fire wood mostly. I have a wood burner in my home because paying the heating bill was killing us in the winter months. Well once people found out I was burning the wood to save money on the heating bill, they thought they should be getting paid for me to clean up trees that fell in their yard, or trees that they got a deal on having dropped because there was no clean up... At the time I was still working lawn care for a small company and would use personal saws during clean ups and personal truck to take firewood home, and not get raped by someone who thought I should pay them to clean their yard... Well I had also been the in house tree guy for the small lawn care company since I have been cutting up trees since I was a kid. Lets just say we didnt always do things the right way, but they got done. After feeling over worked and under paid, I decided that I could make more money working for myself doing things I loved. Being that I had always been a car/truck/bike guy and had a collection of cars/trucks/bikes and parts i would start working on and flipping cars. which i had done for years for extra cash. Well while struggling with the automotive thing. i would help my old boss every now and again with the saws and truck for some spare cash. Well the start of this year, he said hey, Im getting more then i can handle with the mowing and landscaping thing, If you got insurance to do tree work Ill just kick you all the tree work i get. Well what guy in his right self respecting mind who loves using chainsaws wouldnt say yes? I fricking hate mowing grass!!!! Well then i needed cash for some more equipment and insurance. So traded or sold a few cars, bikes engines turbos guns reloading supplies old chopper parts knives and whatever projects i had laying around to come up with insurance and a few decent working saws. Well then everyone said buy a bucket truck... Ummm well after saws insurance and a broken chipper and saws i didnt have money for a bucket truck..... ( later traded my 2 clean 49 plymouths for the big bucket dump i have now but at the time there was no way. So i started looking into climbing gear. well the ol lady saw how hard i was trying and when she got her tax check she donated to my cause and bought me the first climbing kit. Luckily the ol ladies sisters old man worked for townsend as a climber. So in his off time he worked with me climbing and haha pun intended showed me the ropes. Now im not saying im an ace climber by any means, but now that ive gotten started i wouldnt want to do anything else. His older cousin who got him the job with townsend and showed him everything he knows, was out of work and looking for a new company. Well i was looking for a guy who could work during the week and someone who knew more then i did. (which still isnt hard) he fit the bill and started helping bid jobs so i didnt loose my butt on jobs and handled the crazy stuff (and i pay him what ever he says its worth at the end of the job.) I handle the clean up and some times if its an easier job he walks me through it so i dont kill my self or damage anything. I also recently got in touch with the one and only local ISA certified arborist in my local area and we my mentor climber and i are starting our paths to our certs. well thats about the short of it... im sure there is way more im forgetting or just dont want to type atm

Man, from the title of the thread, I knew he was gonna die. I just thought as said by others I thought it was gonna be his old lady that got him not a power line and overly long bar.
