new to the site

New guy here ,thought I'd intro myself been reading a while and finally got around to signing up
Little about me ...been a commercial /industrial roofer/foreman for 18yrs and running my own lawn and tree service for the last couple yrs and this spring I'm leaving my job to do this full time starting March 1st
I mainly focus on lawn care and landscaping but definitely enjoy the tree work and since I heat it's nice to get paid to get my firewood
Don't do any high risk trees ,have basic climbing gear and use it some ,other times I just rent a bucket if it's a bigger tree ,then I just keep a list of my customers and when I get enough together I rent a stumper or if they can't wait I refer them to another stumping operation ,same with if the tree is high risk I refer them to some real experts here in town
So anyway that's my intro and thanks everyone for the help I've gathered off the site in the past and all I'm sure to get in the future

I still sometimes miss the steady paycheque / getting paid for stat holidays....even 15 years after making that jump into the unknown.

This is a great forum. One of the best in the net. Members here are nice and they do the best to help you if you need help. Like I say, enjoy it.

Yeah I don't recommend roofing ,unless you like working around hazardous materials and a rapidly deteriorating body haha...I actually was running a business doing residential roofing but then we started working 6 days a week so I couldn't take on many good jobs and it's hard to get dependable help in roofing which brought me to lawn care as a side job since I could do it myself or with limited help (my dad is 65 and loves getting out there) and then I was always out looking for wood so I just decided that I should get paid if I was going to cut so I started offering the service and it's gone good so far ,I'm a bit long in the tooth to bother with trying to be a professional climber so when in doubt I refer my high risk jobs to the guys that have been doing it all their lives ....works for them and me
