Just getting started researching wood furnaces and glad i found this place. I just bought a wood furnace very very cheap and wondered if anyone knew where i could get some information on it. It says Grannys energy saver on the door and it came with fire chief literature. This thing has never had a fire in it so i think i got a deal? thanks for any help. Josh

Can you post a photo

yeah i will tommorow. its all black and has the same design as a firechief. 8" flu, 12" warm air duct, 14"x13" door loading door (i believe), 30"deepx46"tallx22"wide. has hole in front for forced draft.

the shape and design are almost identical. measurements are just a inch or two off. this stove is all black. with the word grannys energy saver on the front door.

doesn't that web site offer any info on it?

if it's similar, all the specs are there to hook it up.

what do you need to know?

well its close but not identical such as my furnace has a 8 " flu and 12" warm air duct. the firechief doesnt have a 8 " flu till you get to the big model. just a few little things are different. and im just nosey to see if anyone has any comments on it since i cant find anything on it online. just seems odd that i cant find a scratch of info on it. and its definatley a manufactured furnace not a diy job.

it's probably an older model that the web site i gave doesn't list. if you can give more info like any model numbers or such, we could do a better search.

it appears to be a good woodburner and you should hook it up.

i plan to i just really dont know where to start. i know where im placing it and the flu now i just gotta figure out the hot air duct because i cannot locate this next to furnace so i have to figure out another way to get the heat into the house or the duct work. then all the thermostat stuff. just kinda overwhealmed. ill look for more numbers when i get a chance and get a pic on here. thanks.

heh...welcome to the world of wood heating.

you breaking balls with those links?
What my friend here is trying to say is you need to resize your images for the majority of us on dial up. The best program to do this with is Infranview which is a free program available for download at www.infranview.com just try to keep all of your images at 800X600 and you will avoid comments like that:).
On another note you might want to check the links you posted;) I do believe you have the wrong ones :D.

no, i have road runner.......but the only pictures i saw with those links were of girls.

not that i didn't mind, but.........

Tried to download that program, but it isnt free.

LOL! Chick pics! Alyssa Milano (sp?) and Rachel Wood (Marlyn Manson's GF)

Where be the furnace pics you perv?:hmm3grin2orange:

OT, Irfanview does have free version. OP, the answers are at yer finger tips!

Tried to download that program, but it isnt free.
The home version is, just google it (I think I did 'Irfanview free version download'), just installed mine again last night, still trying to figure it out tho :( . XP has a re-sizing utility in 'Paint' I think too that might be easier, I am brain-fartin' but know there's a utility in there thats easy to use. If you have a photo prog on your PC you can often re-size pics if you hit 'save as' and choose JPEG format (then 600x400 or 800x600), if their imortant pics make sure you don't overwrite your origional copy (doh!)

To the OP, do a search on 'wood furnace installation', there's a site or 161,000 or so, I like this one for basics but you should find exactly the info you need within the first 10 site links >

Infranview is free if you get the home edition, it replaces allot of different photo editing programs (except the expensive adobe photo shop) not to mention it is fairly small. If you download the bulk plugin file you can watch movies add weird things to pix and all sorts of other neat things.
Click this link here for the download section
