hey all im new to this site got a question for some of yall thats been around for a while, ive worked on saws for about ten years but ive got two old model husky 61s and a husky 272 like how they got plenty of power for me but was wondering if there was any mods or something i could do to get just a little more out of my old saws or something like that.

Sorry, can't help you much - but welcome to the site, anyway!:rockn: :rockn:

I don't believe those saws have as much to gain from muffler mods as newer ones, but I believe there are some gains to be found.....;)

Do a search (search button at the top of this page) for "muffler mods". You will find pictures, and lots of info! Welcome to AS!

Welcome to A.S. A muffler mod is the easiest and most simple way to get more power, just don't forget to richen it up a little. Other than that, send it up to NWC and have him to some porting. good luck

We used to bore out the 61`s when they were called 162`s thats because the 266 and 266xp didn`t come out yet.
266 was best saw I ever had, should have bought one before they stopped building then.I`ve got a 61 also and I just adjust jets.
Got an old 185 and that thing is like holding a skidoo motor in you hands.

The 268se/xp should beat the 266se/xp by some margin according to specs, as should the Jred 670 Super/Champ over the regular 670, but RAH will of course not believe it.....

Btw, the Jreds had the upper hand on the Huskys, even though they were all made by Husky - different intakes, I believe......

The 272 husky was one of my favorite saws ever built..I guess because back in my logging days, those are what replaced the old boat anchor Macs we were running...I still have one,and I'm going to try to get it running again soon.
