Welcome! This is the place for good advice. It's also the place for bad advice. And it's not a bad place to get into a peeing contest.
There is so much advice that can be given about the whole topic of gathering wood, what kind of tools, etc. If you could shoot some more specific questions, then we could tailor our answers.

But my first piece of advice would be to cancel the Drolet and get a Blaze King.:laugh:

(Seriously though, Drolet has a good rep, though I've never owned one).

Welcome. Can't believe UncleM hasn't hit you up for membership dues yet.

I was going to get there......

And now that Unc has checked into this thread there is a 75% chance your wife is now pregnant. That's just the way it is with him.

Welcome to the woodpile Crackerjack and I'll second the motion of Oldmaple as far as cutting ahead of time;). You'll also find that soon you'll be ever alert to downed trees in the area as you're out and about. Craigslist can be a great place to score some good firewood from time to time.

Welcome to the site.
If you intend to burn wood next fall you are already behind. Start getting your wood supply cut, split and stacked for drying as soon as possible.
