I have decided to sell my Jonsered 2172 as I am replacing it with a Stihl 044 that fits better in to my all Stihl line up.
This saw has low hours on it, is in excellent condition and has no known issues. The price is $475 plus actual shipping expenses. Ships only to 48 states. I will accept a USPS money order or PayPal. The saw will come extremely well packaged and arrive in good condition.
Pictures will come later but it's a red and black saw in good condition... The bar is 20" running 72dl of 3/8" x .050 chain.
Any questions, email via this site or call me 7705849020. Saw can be picked up in person in middle Georgia if desired. If you're needing one of these, say something soon as it won't last long at this price.

I don't have any long bars for this saw. Just the 20".

Sale is pending additional info and pics. I should be able to get pics up soon. I took the saw off the shelf this morning, fueled it up and cut some pieces I hauled home yesterday. I was thinking maybe I was making a mistake... Oh well, I'm moving forward.

The compression is 170 warm, the piston looks good via inspection through the exhaust port. I blew the saw off and wiped some of the crud off of it. I'm heading out to the shop to take pics in a few minutes. Stand by.

I think you are, but I remember the saga when you got the saw. I would not trade a 044 for a 372 unless we are talking 10mm. They are very similar in power, but the 372 is smoother (I know the 044 is lighter by a few ounces.)

I don't think you compression gauge is reading right. I have never seen more than 145-150 on a 372.

I'm confident in the compression gauge. I could do another check when it cools off to see what it . I don't find it unusual for saws to show different compression on different days using the same test equipment. The saw was warm, the weather cold. The shop should be warmed up by now and I'll go retest it with the saw at ambient temperature.
I don't put all my stock in compression readings. My experience is that low compression generally means there is an issue, but high compression doesn't mean there isn't an issue. I have had scored saws show normal compression readings. I like a compression reading + a visual of the piston. (I have also had nice looking pistons with a lot of wear showing low compression)
Chainsaws have such a small volumetric area that it doesn't take much to skew the results. For instance, if the compression gauge has longer or shorter threads than the spark plug, carbon on piston, etc.
