Anybody else get the letter?

Aerial Lift of Connecticut is bankrupt and closing in 90 days.

Kinda sucks since I just bought one a year ago!

I heard a rumor a while back that they might go under.. makes me glad I bought an Altec! I think they got a little complacent in their success. They definitely fly nice though, thats for sure!

The letter says they are working on securing a future for parts and service, so I guess only the future will show what that holds.

Alc

ALC makes great stuff, but once the previous owner passed, the company went downhill fast. I know two of the previous service techs that worked there for 10 plus years and they quit and started there own boom inspection and bucket truck mechanical service. Also there best salesman, Rich, lived next to the place for many years. He know is with altec.
Joe, is the new owner, a real ####head, he tried to charge my boss a couple of grand for a frozen outrigger. We took the truck there for service two winters ago.Said we never greased it and they had to cut it off and put a new one on. This is total nonesense, we grease often and heavy. Even if we didnt, this was on an 06 sterling with less then 5k on lift and truck. Brand new 75' elevator in spring of 07. My boss never paid, they never showed him any parts or documetation. He brought his spare keys and paid for what service they did, drove the truck back out of their shop back to NY.

That is a shame..........I really liked their lifts, strong, stable & just a good secure feeling while operating, that story holds so true.......when a biz is created the original owner has the product & service in mind...........when someone else takes over they just have profit in mind!!!

LXT.............

that sucks we use a lot of there 60' lifts. 14 of them are ALC. Looks like Terex is going get a lot of work.

Check it out....a lot went into ALC's demise.....

I know a salesman on the list at the end, Al Civitello.

Everyone who sold them truly believed in the company, including the son who would be "disowned" by his father, who committed suicide in 2004.

Thanks for sharing, interesting reading for sure.

The part thats whited out is kind of disturbing though, if you click and drag over the white text it will highlight it and you can read it easily.

Yeah heard last fall that ALC wasn't doing so hot. I did use one of their booms once and it was nice. Unfortunate how some family businesses can be so problematic sometimes.

Mike

ALC is/was basically an assembly plant. All the componentry was provided to them by outside sources, nothing was made in house. There are plenty of parts available now, and will be to service the late model booms for quite some time into the future. So everybody can breath a indefinite sigh of relief...

wow that stinks i met the son brian at a li arborist show back in 1989 nice guy he had a 72' truck ther he new his stuff on booms

whats the difference between what he did, And if someone broke into your home shot you left your wife a widow, and your children fatherless ( would you call that a cowardly thing to do? )

ps save your childish taunts for ... well just grow up

thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
