Hopefully someone here can answer this question because for some reason my dealer does not even know! On my 395 there are two threaded holes in the front of the saw, horizontal to each other. They are below the muffler on the front of the bar oil reservoir. One person said they might be for a wrap-handle but I have one on it and it doesn't utilize those holes. Haven't seen the holes on the 385, 372 or 365. Just would like to know the purpose for them. Not in my owners manual either.
Thanks in advance for any input!!!!!

Matt

Howdy Matt

Dealers here are installing a rubber flap backed by an alloy brass/aluminum plate there to keep stocks and debris from flying up and hitting the case causing breakage, which was a problem on the 394 ( I have four 394 saws, all have broken/cracked cases right there ).

Another guess is perhaps a mount for the "Logisil", which is Jonsered's in-house chainsaw milling attachment, which is usually sold with the 2095 ( Jonsered's version of the 395 ). I'm guessing since Husqvarna is Jonsered's parent company they're doing some design cross-over.

Thanks Jacob!

I think someone mentioned to me about the milling attachment before, never seen one though. Hopefully they took care of the weak case on the newer 395..
Do your 394's have muffler mods and if so did it effect them that much? I have heard that it takes alot of work to liven up the 394 and 395 huskys.

Thankyou much for the reply!

Matt

Jacob is right about the 2095 powering the Jonsered SM2095 chainsaw mill.

The Logosol portable chainsaw mill is manufactured by a Swedish company,Logosol, and is now powered by a Husky 395 as the standard powerhead. Used to be powered by Stihl.

I think he is probably right on about those holes being for mounting studs, but I have never had a chance to scrutinize either mill, just sort of checked them out in passing at shows.

Protection Plate.

Do you think it is needed on the 395 like it is on the 394?

Matt

The holes in question were for mounting a repair bracket that was experimented with for use when the casting broke and allowed the anti vibration mount too much lateral movement. There was also a protection plate experimented with that was supposed to prevent the casting from breaking in the first place. The factory in Sweden sent several different versions of the brackets and we made some up ourselves.

Protective plate for 394xp

I know it's an old thread, but I figured I better post the part number on this just in case someone needs it in the future.

Husqvarna part # 503 93 47-01
