I have a few large pine trees that will be on the ground soon. I would have them made into 2x4's and 2x6's to build a lean to type shed/ storage shed that will be attached to a barn.

Would it take 2 years of drying time before I can use them if they are cut 2in thick?

Thanks

You don't have to. If you build it green expect some shrinkage and warping. I don't think dry wood in a structure that has open framing matters as much.

Use the crown of the wood to the top on joists or you will have a saggy messed up roof.

Thanks for the replies. I have been looking at mills, chainsaw and ban saw. I think I am just going to hire it done. I have been quoted $50.00 per hour with a 8 hour min. They will do a better job than I would, and I can focus on building.

Build it green. And with the money u spend on paying someone you could easily buy a CSM. You'll be glad u did. Beside they ain't got to be perfect for what your doing.
