So I lent my splitter out to a friend - came back with blown engine - got that replaced - then he borrowed it again - on the way back he hit a bump and the tank came loose and pulled the suction tube out of the hydraulic pump- ugh !!!!!

After talking with Timberwolf and manufacture of pump they say that style pump is going to leak -

I am looking for the number off a pump- mine is worn off- Timberwolf wants 500 / 600 for new pump - im going to try and find it cheaper before I buy one from them at full price

Thanks in advance

Sorry about your splitter,.....................But WHY IN WORLD WOULD YOU LEND THIS GUY THE SPLITTER AFTER THE FIRS TIME AROUND?

How did the engine blow, out of oil?

can it be disasembled and braze the suction tube bac k in place?
Post a pic of pump. If it just a simple gear pump, probably two stage, it is likely very easy to interchange. Pump mounting is probabablhy SAE or the smaller flange. Shaft you can change the coupler halves. Ports are easy. Haldex/Barnes/Concentric whatever they are called now is the most common.
Surplus Center, Northern Tool,
How much engine hp? Maybe this is your chance to upsize a bit, depending on hose sizes.

Been following this thread for a few days, I will just offer my observation on what I think the possible problem and fix might be. It seems the current hyd pump had the suction tube pulled from the pump body. Simply re-installing the old tube might leak oil or suck air. My guess is it is possible the tube was deformed or damaged when it was pulled loose. Since damage could be be reasonably expected the fix should be pretty simple. The suction tube is not under any pressure so one should be able to smooth out the damage to the tube, clean it well, apply JBweld or similar and reinstall the old tube. Once the the epoxy has hardened, there shouldnt be any suction leaks or air leaks. My second option for a fix would be to just buy a new suction tube for the pump and install it according to manufacturers instructions. third option would be to disassemble the pump and thread the suction port for a pipe nipple reassemble the pump. None of the options I suggest would be expensive and all would be cheaper than buying a new pump. For future preventive maintenance, I would stop lending his "Friend" the splitter, that would stop a lot of his problems before they happen.

So I chatted with Timberwolf today - they have several different suppliers over the years etc - would only give me their "part number" so imposible to cross - they did say the the new ones are threaded and made from alloy not -cast like mine circa 2001 but its about 600 delivered to my door with "free fittings" thrown in hahah ugh !

Sounds like to me TW is flipping off a customer. The most expensive haldex 28gpm two stage pump is only $438 at Splitez. And you can go a lot cheaper, less than half price, if you go with EZ's 28gpm two stage for $206. I have the EZ 28gpm on my splitter and havent had a bit of trouble out of it. As JG Withworth like's to say, it's Your Money.

Post some pics.
Then I can give you some questions for next step.
Shaft size, in and out port sizes, and thickness of the gear sctions
It's not rocket science, and for sure TW doesn't make their own pumps, or likely not have special made ones.
