i decided to try napas nitous octane boost in my 962.. i had it set at 13000 no ld.. the boost kicked it to 13650 no ld..
seemed to translate into more power
in some of the hardest hickory ive seen. really cured out..seemed to make it even stronger.. i used moble x2t mix at 40-1..
just thot id mention this for all u amature saw boys who are looking for an edge.. opinions an observations welcome from those in the know..
by the way im not recommending this to anyone else,,so if u blow u saw ,u did it on your on..:)

Octane Booster:

Tony, I'm no expert by any means, but if I started adding something to my fuel mix, I would also add a bit more oil. In this case I'd run 32/1 to be on the safe side, untill I could actually see what that booster was going to do. JMO. Lewis.

yea thats my thinking also..its just a matter of me having too much time on my hands while i wait on the operation.. doc called today to tell me he had,,, on further looking at my xrays discovered that one side of the rotatorcuff is torn loose.. whatever that means..i was hoping they could do this with that small incision surgery .. but apparently not. dammit. just wanta get it over with. get straitened out an back to working full time.

Octane booster does not add power to your equipment. Octane rating is resistance to detonation or pinging. Octane boosters up the rating so the engine can handle more timing or more compression or both. If the only change was octane booster I don't see where there could be any more power.

u probably rite .. sedan.. like i said too much time ,probably too much hydrocodone. just want o get this mess done an get back to it as a whole man.
i been a hurtin too long. on a scale of 1-10 this feels like about a num 8 tooth ache in the shoulder . just dammed tired o being doped up or hurtin.

Octane boosters added to pump fuel is a chemical circle jerk that often results in very slight to no increase in octane. Many of the boosters out there today contane MMT. MMT will cause rust coored deposits on you plugs and cylinder head that my make the engine more sensitive to pre ignition.

took dn an cherry and an oak today..
then quit ill go back an finish as i the shoulder allows.. man booster or no this little 962 really eats the wood..now when i get my pp026 and use of my shoulder ,,im gonna be set real good..

Actually a very small tickle of nitromethane, say 1 or 2 percent makes a very effective octane booster. 5 percent will be noticeable in the exhaust smell and 10 bercent will start to give you the cackle like a fuel car. Problem is availability and cost. Nitro was $16.00 a quart the last time I bought it. Any addition of nitro requires carb attention.

Can "NITRO" be purchased at hobby shops and added to the fuel/oil mix?

When added to mixed fuel are saw carb normally leaned out or richened up?

Nitromethane is CH3NO2, see the little "O2" at the end?, that's oxygen. The fact that nitromethane brings its own oxygen to the party means the jets have to be opened up. I got my nitro from a drag racer who was making 1,600 hp with a twin turbo injected small block and needed a touch more octane than the 93 pump gas he was running. His combo did real good on the street but when he dialed the boost up to 33 psi things got a little hairy. His car went 6.96 @202 mph and he will drive it on the street, He's also a Doctor.

i pay $400 per 5 gallon pail for angus nitro methane and use lots of pails per year
first you have to be carefull buying nitro cause there is lots of stuff out there that is not pure nitro, all kinds of nitro methane is only 50% nitro and 50% methanel
pure nitro is only 45 octane rated on VP rating chart so it doesnot raise the numbers .
now you can run it in a stock chainsaw motor up to 15 % with high test gas but you will have to jet it fatter and donot run it very long cause it is going to get very hot.
say you take a 066 and mix up some 15 % nitro in your gas , by the time you make 3 cuts in a 8 by 8 it is going to be very hot and you better of cut your sparkplug because she most likely will not shut off with a stock one but it does cut faster forsure and make sure the oil you are going to use is ok with nitro cause it like to eat stuff

Hey guys, I'm curious about the MMT comment. Research shows that MMT, when used at the correct dosage, will in fact leave a red residue on the plug, but actually burns carbon out of the chamber. If anyone is seeing carbon buildup, its either due to the operation prior to shutting it down, another problem, or overdosing it in the fuel mixture. As an aside, MMT has been used extensively in F1 racing with great results.

which when you change the dollar it is $80 a gallon here, so they are the same and i like that nitro and that is what i use , never burned a piston or had fuel trouble and it is not hard on parts like what Marcel called china nitro
