Odd TS420

Something different from the norm.
Ts420 cutoff saw on the bench. Acts like choke is stuck on.
Take air filter and cover off, problem solved. New air filter, same issue.

Before I give the cure, anybody else see this on this model?

Blocked air intake horns on the left side behind the flywheel? At least, that's what I have ran into on the 2 I serviced last summer.
A huge PIA to clear and clean out properly.

Any idea what they are cutting? First one I have had so far.

Mine that came in for work were always used for cutting concrete and no water application used. To clean the ports, I use a very small flexible bottle brush. Still a pita though.

That one almost looks like too much water. I rebuilt one earlier this year where water had rusted the crank bearings. Don't see any other way it could have gotten in there.


But, I have never seen one that nasty.

Yeah.... these 2 are from a concrete business. They will cut any stone like material with them..... even asphalt. I spent hrs on each to clean up to a decent standard just to work on.

Now, the Husqy I serviced this summer was not anywhere near as bad as the 420's but it is a 2018 yr model also.

No idea if they used water or not but judging by the state of the water kits, I would say probably not using them at all!

The gunk on these 2 were gooey underneath the stuff that chunked off. I went through MANY long handle cotton swabs and brake cleaner to clear out her nostrils.......

Seems to me there’s a restriction on inlet side of air filter housing. Haven’t seen one that bad thus far, just got through servicing nine TS420’s (in a row) have to agree with @Chevboy0167 on this one.
