I wonder if anyone else has had an issue with the old Asplundh chipper. Our oil pan is shot, non reparable. I've tried the usual avenues ( Autozone, Advanced Auto, NAPA ) , no dice. The pan for ours is a center sump pan from a Ford straight 6 300. Seems to me it should be a more than common part but can't find one anywhere. Anybody else try to replace one and have any luck?

i have seen many setting in junkyards-ford 300-6, i even had one left in my garage where i now live. sent it to scrap yard. there another place to try. you may get one from there pennies on a dollar. i know many sell iron.

Yes, I know there is plenty of 300 6's out 'n about. Our oilpan is a center sump though, which we can't seem to find ANYWHERE. I think we need one directly off of another chipper. Unless someone has had this problem before and found a different route.

Hey i work for ford and can probly get ya a bead on one. I think i even have a friend back home that collects odds and ends with ford. He has lots of strange things laying around. Ill call him tomorrow. If you can get me a serial number off the engine i may be able to get the part straight through ford vintage parts. Serial number should be on a tag on valve cover or block. Lemme know

I'm not sure if we have the serial number, I'll have to run out to the land and scour the block for it tomorrow but I'll see what I can do. Before I buy I kinda need a picture because we've hit a coupla, "this is the part you'll need, no problems" situations already but ask your buddy if he's dealt with these industrial engines if you can. I'll get back in touch tomorrow.

ill call him first thing tommorow. im pretty sure being the huge ford nut that i am ill be able to get ya what ya need. If not maybe you can send the old part my way. I have fabricated several oil pans in my day to fit custom racecars. even built a few from scratch

try your local ford tractor dealer. i buy alot of parts for my chipper from them. good luck

Thanks everybody for your responses. We found one on ebay for a fifty. I had no idea how hard it was going to be to track one down. Hopefully this is the right one finally.

I'd be interested in this chipper "graveyard" ! Where exactly is the place?
