Oiler adjustment on a MS 261 Stihl

I have a 261 Stihl with only 7 or 8 tanks through it . I tried to adjust the oiler but it keeps turning either way and doesn’t stop, screw will turn forever either way. Anyone have this issue ? And what’s the hole beside the oiler screw? Thanks. I bought it new

Small stop pin is missing, if you can find a picture of an intact pump you can work out the positioning

Seems to me the right answer. I just dealt with this on another saw. Cut off a paperclip and bent it for the hole to keep going and ordered a new oil pump.

Looks like it’s broke in there. How do I find the position though ? Thanks

I think you have broken off the little piece of metal that stops the oil screw turning. If you open everything up behind the clutch and remove the oil pump, you'll see what I mean. Its worth giving everything a clean out anyway once in a while. Send a shot of WD40 through the oiler pipes and check the worm gear is working.

The piece of metal broke off on a Stihl saw that I own. The oiler still works fine and I leave all of my saws in the maximum oil position.

You are correct my good man. Just the corner of the stopper I believe. It’s back together and set to max. Thanks for your reply
