New trick for me anyway.
Tried climbing over the weekend on a distal with a micro pulley. Tied the distal 3 over 1 and with a micro pulley on ****** between the ends attached to saddle. Have to admit it was kinda cool to only tie in once and let the knot stay in. Just unsnap the anchor tie end to get around something and move on. Took some getting used to realizing that to advance the hitch you put hands OVER the hitch and pull and let pulley take up slack and not BELOW and pull then push up the taut line. Have to admit I will probably use this setup again since it did seem to be much easier to work with. Weird feeling letting go that first time and hoping I tied this stupid knot right after practicing it so many times in the yard and garage:) Thanks to all who posted up the pictures and ideas about the newer techniques, you might actually be on to something. After 15+ years on a tautline I might be moving to semi - modern times.;)

Used a pre - spliced cord from sherrills, kinda pricey, I know but I figured I would baby-step my way into this and work from there. Used the techna cord and it grabbed my line (true-blue) and held and released really well. Will look into the sta - set and try it out.

I picked up some new tress cord that Mark Chisolm was using and haelping to develope for New England. The cord was much more than the usual Sta-Set but with all the buzz about it I had to buy some for a try.

I made up a prussic cord on a locking steel snap for a friend of mine complete with a make shift slack tender. He has yet to use it, but for the past several months I have done 80% of the climbing for him. He is interested in trying it out, but I think he is still a bit apprehensive of working with something new. I do have to say though, he did just buy a Big Shot after having used the 16oz rubber ball for probably 20 years.
