I have the opportunity to purchase the stock of an old stihl dealership that has been out for some time now (I think 15+ years) I would look to keep what I need and maybe move the rest. I haven't looked at the stuff, but I guess there are a number of covers and a few cylinders and pistons/cranks/etc. For what the guy is asking, I dont know it is worth it. If these are desirable parts that are still in bags - there should be a market for them, right? I am excited to see whats included.

Let me know what kind of parts you have. I'm looking for the wrap handlbar for my 064.

Yeah there should be a market for it. Especially if it's component level stuff-cylinders, handlbars, mufflers, that sort of thing. You might have a harder time moving boxes of carb kits and bar studs. Let me know if you've got a clutch cover for a 044/046/066, P/N 1122 648 0401. Or heck, any part for any of those saws...

Odds are there will be a bunch of parts that he was never able to sell because no one wanted them. Maybe a Stihl dealer will be different from most other dealers, just because. Also, odds are, the parts you want to keep will be exactly the same ones that the buyers will want to buy leaving you with the leftovers that no one wanted in the first place. Fifteen year old inventories are rarely goldmines but you may get lucky with this one. If I was going in blind I would pay no more than 10% of retail, tops. That way you have a chance to break even after a lot of effort. It all depends on what your time is worth.
Good Luck, John......
