Hey guys, I got ahold of an old bucket truck i’m working on with an old skyworker 1044a boom. I am posting here because some of the information I have found says tree workers used to like skyworker/alc booms because of the oc capibilities. This is not going to be for production tree work but the boom and truck are in really great shape and im looking to restore it. Everything works as it should on the boom and truck. My question is: Does anyone on the page have “first hand” knowledge of the knuckle failures that seems to be reported about the cast aluminum knuckles on these booms? Location/causes/results of a failure? Or even any valuable first hand information about the 1044a boom. My pedistal welds and tube under the main plate are in great shape also. Pics for location. I brushed/cleaned the chipping paint off. Thanks in advance.
