I bet if we cleaned out the barn and upstairs, we could close shop and vacation in Hawaii for a long time.

ive done that.
i went through 2 dealers that were closing with a fine tooth comb picking out what i wanted. got a whole lot of old signs.

I was watching that stihl one and couldn't believe it cause I got that same sign for maybe $10-15. Rocky's seen my collection I've been building but with the way these dummies are bidding I'm not getting too many more.
JimL before you put those signs up , let me know!:D Stihltech too!

There are some that have been selling from Canada that I swear are replicas but everytime they come up somebody buys them, musta seen the same sign 40 times now.

Yeah, Todd. We can get some sheet steel stock (or even aluminum- street signs are falling down everywhere) and trace the logo, bring it to a signmaker, and voila! Instant 'antique' signs! Might just be a neat trick for financing your daughters college education fund. ;)

I wonder how long it with take the Stihl gods to put a stop to that. I would think they still control the image. Although they may not care as it seems they have thrown out the rule of not allowing dealers to sell over the internet. There are several Stihl dealers that are getting very bold and selling hundreds of new items on ebay. There is even one 30 miles from me doing it.

Bill

they will get caught and they wont be a dealer any more.

they caught like 20 last year.
Ive seen them list before on ebay a bunch one time, day or 2 and they are gone./

I do a lot of work with sheet metal stampers and formers. We could easily make some signs that say "Stihll" on them, label them as rare misprints, avoid the trademark gods, and watch the money come in. I could have a proto in about a week.:D

Holy cow Jeff I thougt you were going to end up selling those bars by the pound for scrap. well ya never know what you gonna get for something. It is also funny how prices seem to come and go.
I was buying decent macs 3 years ago for nothing now junkers are way too much. I was doing great cleaning out stuff from an old dealer, until some smart a$$ came in and told the guy "gee you could get a ton for that stuff". Now he sits on it waiting for a sucker to come walking in and pay him through the nose.
Maybe its time for me to clean out the barage!

funniest thing about that sign is when UPS delivered it to me, they had bent it up pretty good. Turns out it will be substantially cheaper than the bid price.
