Anyone here know anything about the onan powered set-up on older [97] ford small telescopic bucket?
Buddy of mine bought one and says the motor shuts off after an hour or two and wont restart until it cools down several hours later. He took it to one guy who thought it was vaporlocking and they changed filters and fuel line but stil having the same problem.I think yhe boom is made by Tesla, telsa or something .

Thanks in advance

Thats a pretty common engine. Is it over heating?

Not sure. I have not seen it myself. I'm going on what he has told me . It's hard to get good info from him because he is not very mechanicaly inclined.

Do they have shut down sensors on them for temp and oil pressure?

Went and looked at it a bit today .It is an ONAN motor but no generator,,,, it's hooked up to a hydro pump.I explained to him how to bypass the wiring harness the next time it fails, just to see if it is losing ignition signal. Then told him if it was me ,I would take it somewhere that works on RV's since they would be familiar with that type of motor.

Onan doesn't make those engines any more. Look for a shop that works on Miller welders. Several models used to have those engines. Some mower shops will work on them also. They were used on several brands of small tractors. Sounds like it may be the coil. Could also be oil pressure switch. Our shop works on them and those are common problems.

Thanks for the reply and thanks to the others who replied.

The coil was replaced along with plug wires ,fuel line and filter. The OP switch sounds like the most likely suspect to me also. But in the end ,it's not my truck. I'm just trying to point him in the right direction.
Thanks again for the help guys.
