I expect I will take straight small slabs off of it and finish it off with a hand planer.

End result? Support post for spiral staircase? Or cut to shorter lengths and have some great curved slabs for random projects like trim over doors and such.

Anyone have a spiral jig idea?
 
Man am I ever glad you put that second picture in there. By the first picture alone I thought your next project had something to do with sheep, Baaa. Hopefully you'll get some good figure out of those bends, Joe.
 
I would buck the straighter part off and just leave the curve section . Then cut it on the flat so you end up with a set of curved boards, Then put 3-4 together and make a curved desk top out of it.
Then mill the straight section for legs and the rest of the desk frame.

Here's a post showing how I set up for the first cut for curved pieces.

Just what are you trying to imply here? I mean, the second picture has a goat in it, what are we supposed to infer from that? :bulgy-eyes:
