Well,I decided the check the 5000 for a suspected crank seal today.I'm not sure if my procedures were correct but the best I could do was apply a little motorcycular testing.Anyway,I blocked off the intake and exhaust and hooked up a compression tester hose with a vac pump and brought it up to 8 psi.It held but as I rotated the crank it would drop in one position about 2psi but if held here it wouldn't continue but stay at about 6psi.I then hooked up a set of old r-12 a/c regulators from work and pumped it up with a bicycle pump(high tech stuff here )to 8psi and closed the valve-the intention being to ck the seals/case with soapy water.I immediately had chain oil P-ing all over the bench.I'm assuming after this I have a crank seal gone or nick on the crank and a case seal gone between the base and oil chain oil tank.Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. If this is indeed the case,I guess I can make a case gasket easily enough but I had read somewhere here that these saws were basically the same as a particular model of Jonsered. Can I still order these from my frindly neighbourhood Jonsered dealer or will any other make/model of seal interchange? Thanks
