Looking to replace the 46mm P&C on my 034 with an 036 48mm with comp release. OEM cost too high, but LRB has one that's Japanese (casting)/Taiwan (machined?) with chrome plated bore. Anybody got experience or opinions on the LRB/PSS kits out of Japan with the chrome bore?

countryhunter79, you replied to my post, but I lost your reply when I accidentally deleted the original post. Wanna try again?

Yeah, I'm just not anxious to have a nikasil jug. I've had a couple of very expensive bad experiences with nikasil in BMW's. It's kinda like if you've ever had near-death food poisoning, you're not real anxious to try the food again that put you on death's door. So, I've been searching for chrome, since my old Stihl saws with chrome jugs have been "bullet-proof".

nikasil is the only way to go. Lol. And when it comes to AM just make sure you get a good kit. Generally the ones made in italy or good. Watsonr can tell you which ones. But pretty sure tecomec, meteor, and cross are maybe more. Or buy a used oem.

Yeah, I had a possible used OEM from "stihl for life", but haven't heard back from him. I'd sure like an OEM...new OR used.

OK, thanks. Just got back from from the machine shop of a friend (my machinist from a former life), and I'm going to try to modify my 034 cyl to take the comp release valve. Anybody that's done this (on any Stihl), I'm listening.......

Just curious as to why u want a decomp? Most people block them off not add them. Lol. But u have my curiosity mounting?

Yeah, got a muscle disease that's done enough damage that I can't pull-start the 034. It's got very high compression (haven't measured it with my comp gauge). But I can still handle it OK if my neighbor starts it. That's just not real convenient. Don't have any problem starting two other Stihl saws (020AVP and 011), but need the 034 for some tasks.

That brings up another question. My 020 is a sweetheart that I've had for about 40 years. Just had to o/h the carb and replace the fuel lines and pickup filter. Never had to replace the pickup line before. The fuel tank's a two-piece aluminum clam shell with a paper gasket between the two pieces. Install the new gasket dry, or...?

Most of the chrome bore stuff is gone and I'm pretty sure there may be only one manufacturer still using it, old technology by today's standards. That jug I linked is a Tecomec jug, made in Italy and is probably equal to or even above the OEM jug. They are top notch and I'd rate that one particular model above the Meteor for quality and fit, hands down.

Glad to know Tecomec is made in Italy. Do you happen to know where the meteor jugs are produced ?
