This guy wanted $5500 for this truck and chipper combo. The truck was a 2500 Chevy A/T, with a western plow and over 140K miles. The chipper was an old Asplundh chuck and duck. I thought he was too high. He wanted 3500$ for just the chipper. I still thought it was too high. Was he dreaming or did I pass up a good deal? Question, comments, thoughts?

I would say his price is high. That truck is probably worth $1500 - $1800. I don't know what the chipper is worth.

Both the truck and the chipper look like they are in very good shape. Before buying, you need to ask yourself the question “what business am I in”? If the answer is snow plowing, lawn maintenance and light brush removal; this is your rig. If the answer is serious tree work, you need to look elsewhere. I have not run a chuckNduck in a long time but compared to hydraulic in-feed, it is a dinosaur. I run an old Mobark disk without a winch and everyone tells me I am crazy but she is paid for and every minute it runs puts CASH into my pocket not the banks! Good luck!

Yeah, that's what I thought. Bear in mind that this is a rusty truck, that has probably had the snot beat out of it plowing snow.

Yeah, I'm definitely the latter. No one calls me for lawn or snow work, but I get plenty of calls for tree work. I ended up buying this F-350 dump for 3900. It IS a tree truck.

For my area he is right on the money. Theres a guy who sells old aspulandah chippers around here and he gets 3500 for them if the starters shot and theres a hole in the radiator. I would say hes right on the money.

Prices seems high. I wouldn't buy less than atleast a 25,000GVW to haul chips , we always used chip trucks with at least 12" platform dump bodies with high sides. Somedays they weren't large enough. Never hurts to buy equipment heavy duty. Chipper price is top price for an older chipper like that. Jjust my thoughts. Good Luck

Looks like you did O.K. there DK_Stihl. As long as it is mechanically sound. A 4x4 to boot. Been looking for something like that myself.
