I have bought a oregon pro bench chain grinder and was looking at the instructions (thats a first) Re. depth gauge grinding, the attached image shows the profile that is recommended by oregon. You have to shape the grinding wheel into this. Has anyone done this and if so how? or do you just shape a 15 deg angle on the grinding wheel and use that?

So far I've been using a flat 1/4" wheel and grinding a straight angle. I've tried different angles and wasn't able to detect a difference in performance. Maybe someday I will try to grind a radius, but it doesn't look easy to do.

One might have to build a special fixture with a diamond dressing point to grind the radius -- wouldn't be that hard to do, just takes a little time and money.

You may be able to get the diamond wheels custom made with a radius, seems like someone mentioned doing that. Of course, it'll cost you.

got this sorted, used the corner of a dressing bar to get a groove, l then used an old round file 8 millimetre in diameter to finish the shaping. It ruined the file but got a great shape. took about 45 mins.
