I will be getting an outdoor wood boiler and I have it down to either a Central Boiler or Woodmaster. I contacted the Village Hall to see if there were any restrictions or permits required. They told me that I would need an Accessory Structure Permit, Plumbing Permit, Electrical Permit and HABC Permit. Holly Cow again Government at work! Then he told me that if you have 3 structures on the property now, one of them would have to be taken down in order to set up the boiler. I thought I lived in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and not North Korea.

have relatives down there, neat. Does the possibilty exist to put an addition on one of your current structure and put the boiler in it? One relation of mine had to get his house built big enough to match the square footage of a planned pole shed down there.

I am a bit familiar with your area and we are no where near as liberal as there, all I can say is brother, I feel for you. I said screw the permit Nazis and just put mine in. So far so good, there are several others close that did the same thing. In an area where people are the more controlling types that doesnt work so dont take that as advise.

permits?

Your first mistake was letting the town hall know what you were up to. Unless you have neighboors up your but, forget the permits and put it in.

What's the definition of a structure in your township.

Adding a solid fuel heatsource onto an existing building may have repercussions on the homeowners policy.

Couldn't you describe it as a smoker for the big King Salmon you catch?

OR a BBQ, texas style, maybe a kiln.

Good Luck with this.

What's a permit???

You are my hero Husky! LOL Permit my a$$!

Where I am there are no permits necessary (as of yet) but I'm sure they will address owb's sometime in the near future. As for homeowners insurance, I feel it would not effect your premium as the source of heat/fire is away from the dwelling itself. Fat chance of your home catching fire with one of these. Very safe IMO.

Yes I live within the Village limits. Pleasant Prairie is the largest Village in Wisconsin. I most likely will take my chances and install without any of these permits. I would just hate to have it come back and bite me in the a$$ later.
