Hello I just hooked up my central boiler to my plate exchanger separating my domestic boiler, just wondering where I tie into my domestic boiler from the exchanger.

Maybe into the IWB return line, just outside the IWB?

Kind of hard to answer not knowing anything about your inside system. Pics might help. Might be more than one possibility too, and might partly depend on your priorities in how you want the system to act.

Someone told me they both have to hooked in on the return side only, dont touch the supply side

boiler pics inside 002.JPG boiler pics inside 003.JPG boiler pics inside 005.JPG Here is how I tied my Central Boiler into my gas boiler My top line is the in line that circulates to 3 zones, 2 heat and a indirect hot water heater. My return line is off the side of the boiler where the 3 zones come back to the boiler. As you can see in my bad pictures I installed the temp gauges on the in coming and the out going, I usually see a 30* drop or so when the zones for the heat call. I don't use a lot of pressure to the zones probably around 5 lbs but that's all it needs. Don't forget to have your lines going into the heat exchanger be opposite each other, in other words one is on top an the other is on the bottom for best heat. I love my Central boiler. At first I did not want a gasification unit but I had no choice due to state laws. Now I love it, it burns so clean I rarely clean out ashes not to mention how cool it is to see the smoke from the chimney disappear when the burn temp in the reaction chamber goes over 550*. It's stage 3 burn can run as high as 1300*

Boiler or plate exchanger isn't big enough if you aren't getting enough hot water. Must have quite the heating load?

No I just put in a plate exchanger to split my domestic boiler and wood boiler. I had the used to have the domestic boiler in unpressurized,so now it is.so for some reason iam not getting enough hot water, before it was great.not sure if I have to put a sidearm or exchanger on the hot water tank, and if so,not sure how to do it.

What water tank do you have? Are you talking about a water tank for storage for your heat system?

Without knowing how your system is setup it's pretty well impossible to say.

Oh, ok... water heater! Now makes some sense!
I have a "boiler mate" style water heater that has a coil inside the tank that boiler water flows through.

Did you plumb that? I'm pretty sure code doesn't allow valves on both sides of a water heater. (Not that it'd kill baby seals, but hopefully it wasnt a pro that did it!)
Should just have a shut off on the supply.

How is the boiler tied into the water heater? Off the same heat exchanger?

It's not yet,was wondering how to go about doing this, going to by a side arm heat exchanger
