Just because production was discontinued in 1988 doesn't mean you couldn't have bought it more recently than that. Your dealer could have had it sitting on the shelf for a couple more years until you bought it.

Actually I started cutting my own firewood in 1982 when I bought my current house and property. My first purchase was a old Craftsman saw that had been well used. I'm sure I never used it more than 2 or 3 yrs when it took to running poorly. I took it to a local small engine shop and he told me he could fix it but it was a little expensive for such a beater saw. I bought the Pioneer from him on the spot. I still have the old Craftsmen in the garage somewhere in the back. So thinking back it must be closer to 20 yrs ago.;)

Damn I'm getting old! I used to cut the trees down on the hill and drag them with shoulder harness down to the house. The logs got larger the longer I dragged them down. By the end of summer I could drag a fair sized log down off the hill.Times were harder then and money was slim. I got a machine to carry my wood off the hill now, and a nice new splitter to split it.I'm fatter now and not near as strong, maybe the old ways were healthier.Back then I could eat a dozen eggs and a 1/2 loaf of bread for breakfast and not gain any weight. Those days are gone as well.
