Painting white pine boards

So I’m putting pine boards on a ceiling routered edge random width all painted white between red pine beams.. project was going good until I realized I need a lot more boards hah a lot so I started sawing on some really old white pine logs I had laying around. My plan is to let them sit a few weeks paint one side and put them up but I’m afraid of excessive cracking or splitting moisture % fresh off the mill is 16% the boards will be nailed to a furing strip I don’t care if there’s some movement to me that adds character but will it be a lot??

You could let it fly or might bring inside where its being installed and let it adjust will cut down on shrinkage

Best seal the boards with Bin/sellac. The knots are going to weep out pitch stains, especially white paint. KD sets pitch but still best to seal any knots.

What kind of % would I be looking for about? Oh boy I didn’t seal any just painted but the ones I painted where sawn stickers and stacked for well over a year hope they don’t weep

Clear pine won't be as bad as the stuff with knots. I'd get MC down then put on two coats of bin.

I know these are hard to see pictures but this is some of the boards that have been sawn and dried for well over a year I’d say we had about 4 of maybe 120-140.. so that’s kinda telling me the stuff I just sawed even though been down awhile I’ll have to wait a bit

Pine pitch coming through the paint.
There are sealers you can buy to prevent this.
I'd do like suggested and bring it inside to the room and let it sit for a while to dry and then seal and paint it and install.

I paint a fair bit of white pine tongue and groove for sheds. I use BIN123 to cover the knots before two coats of paint. BIN123 dries in 15 min, so you can do two coats very quickly followed by 2 coats of paint. Never had any bleed through, even through white paint. For outdoor use, it is recommended to spot paint just the knots. Not sure why, but it works. BIN123 can be purchased at most home improvement stores.
