OK I have read a lot of threads on here about the echo CS-590.
It has the 20" bar pitch is 3/8, gauge is .050, 70DL

I live in an area where the shops and stores don't really stock that size in full chisel, and when I in a jam I can't even find a regular 70dl on the shelf around these parts.

I have seen threads that say people are running 20" 72DL from Tsumara, Carlton, and/or shindaiwa...But never any part numbers listed.

Can't somebody help a guy out before I waste anymore time and money on this? Just wondering what 72DL bar will fit on my saw. I tried a jonsered but the tensioner didn't fit into the bar.

A husky D009 will fit just turn up the oiler. Also @fordf150 can hook you up with an adaptor and a stihl mount Tsumara 20" 72dl .050 bar or whatever common dl you need.

3/8 Echo, older 3/8 Poulan, McCullouch and some older Husky saws all run 70DL 3/8 chains. There is some Pioneer in there too.

The Oregon Mount is D176. Lets say we are looking for a 24 inch bar to fit an Echo 8000. The bar part number would be 240RNDD176. Part number, shown as 240, indicates 24 inch length bar - in 50 gauge. RND is the tip and D176 is the mount. You can look them all up here; http://www.oregonproducts.com/selguide.htm

with an adapter you can run the D025(stihl) bars on your saw which use standard 72DL chains but based on the tensioner not fitting means you have an early 590 so you will have to drill the the tensioner hole larger or file the pin down smaller on the saw. both are easy to do so filing the pin smaller may be the best option so its a one and done deal that never needs messed with again.

here is what you will need:
adapter
D025 mount bar in whatever length and brand you prefer
matching chain to the bar you bought.

just a shameless plug for my site:
