MS361 C/w 20' B&C, scrench, 1 gallon "unbranded" bar oil, 1 oil mix, manual @ US$ 1246.20

MS 660 c/w 25' b&c, scrench, 1 gallon "unbranded" bar oil, 1 oil mix, manual @ US$ 1608.00

€/$ currency conversion based on yesterday's rate.

I agree with Mr. BostonBull, I thought that US$ 70 was expensive too.

Do you reckon our equipment is expensive Mr. Lakeside53? It would be interesting to see how prices compare in other places too eh?

I already bought the mag cover from my dealer (as recommended on AS, thank you!!) but he couldn't supply the double dawg with the roller type chain catcher. Seems they are not available in my country. :bang:

The cheapest (by far) place in the world to buy the saws is the USA; the most expensive is in Japan, with Europe not far behind.... Your 390 is less than $500 here, and the 361 less than $600, and that's "list".

Wow, do you get a kiss as well? Usually I get a kiss after I get f------. A 395 XP is about $1050 U.S. here.

No doubt it pizzes me off to see the listed prices of saws, parts and accessories on US websites. It seems here in Oz our prices are in between Europe and America.

For cabinet making supplies and handtools I have bought heaps of stuff overseas and have it shipped much cheaper than we can buy here. For my business I took 18 months to talk a US company into sending me a rather large order, several thousand dollars worth. It will take a couple of years to use it all but the worst things I bought were just under half the price I pay here, it was a good deal.

Now I've got hooked on this milling thing, I'll have to learn how to do up saws, again I'll get parts sent to me.

All a bit of a pity, but that's life, I don't think much is gained in asking if this part or saw is dear when asking guys from across the globe, it is a different economy. Shop around and decide the best deal. This may mean buying down the road and paying extra, knowing you can get backup service, or it may mean importing from the other side of the world.

Hi Outback,

totally agree with your sentiments as we have had similar experience to that of your own, so we too, more often than not, import our many and varied requirements from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. and especially from Canada and USA where we get a great exchange rate on the currency. For instance, €1 today buys US$1.35, CA$1.42 and AU$1.61. With so many new countries joining the European Union, it is exciting also to explore new Eastern European markets.

Occasionally, there are problems with suppliers not having the facilities to deliver to our island but since we are involved in international logistics, we usually sort out collections/deliveries ourselves.

However, we always must take in to consideration our local suppliers and our local economy.

In the specific case of the non availability of the "double dawg with the roller type chain catcher" (p# 1135 650 7750), which I wish to purchase, I have no option but to import this part as it's just not available as a dealer supply in Ireland.:bang: :blob2: :bang:

Look up at Grande Dog's post again Tom, he's from Baileys, a huge chainsaw parts outfit. Order that thing from Bailey's. I think thats what Grande Dog was trying to tell you.

HI Mr. Thall10326,

In suport of my local Stihl dealer, I already ordered the cover @ $70.00 approx. and we'll have it tomorrow. It's the double dawgs etc (I appreciate you disapprove of) which I can't get locally that I need help with.

Thanks for thinking about me though and for the "nudge" in the right direction. Now is this an unusual gesture of helpfullness on your behalf or are you just not so GRUMPY anymore with me? :D :D :D
