been havin fun. the partner is opened up, the 295 ,not yet. finally got two new chains, so the test is the best i can do to make it fair.
initial results partner takes it.
at first, i thot dan had already had the saw[295] as it looked exactly like a dual ported saw.once i took the face plate off the mufler.uh oh, theres star headed screw heads in there.its the mounting screws. it seems it would be easy to drill the side of these apparent port holes,
and have what amts to a dual ported saw.any input appreciated. i know im askin a lot of questions right now but the forum aint exactly been a buzz of activity so hope u boys will tolerate. and im havin lots o fun. just a little more speed out of the 295 and ill be ready to race anybody. didnt say id beat u just race u .these aint slouches.
whats kinda amazin to me is that partner had this saw back when it was put out . its the 500.. it is greased lightening boys.whod uh thunk it.
 
well i opened up the 295 today .
kinda leveled the playin field.
i can tell the 295 turns more rpm.
but the cut is pretty much the same on both. cut pretty fast.
no tach so i adjusted the carb on the 295 the old way. it leveled out with the h out one and a half turns.any of u mechanics that have worked on the poulan pro ,think that mite be to lean.
at first it sounded rough but then leveled out to a smooth run. dam loud tho.thanks tm
 
thanks mike. mines old and was pretty well out of use when i got it for 25 bucks. but the only thing that really had to be done was the rubber bushings. the rest was a matter of good cutting set up and considerable adjusting on the carb.
like i said its a fast saw now . probably could stand a carb kit,but its doing alrite.
its got a single piston ring that must be a quarter inch thick.
