Just wondering whatever happened to this company? We had the unfortunate experience of once owning a couple of these things..., and regretfully learned a lesson.

I'm fairly certain Partner is still is business, just not chainsaws anymore. I have seen quite a few new looking Partner cut-off saws .

Hey John, I was just trying to strike up some useless convo while watching the Flames spank the Red-Wings.

The reason I remember these Partner saws most is because I've got a scar on the back of my leg from a big rottwhiler that this prick-chainsaw dealer in Wasaga Beach had tied up behind his shop when I was a little guy and had to take a pee when Joe was there for some parts or something.

Did you get all that?

That's why I don't like Partner chainsaws.

But I do recall the old been regrettin trying these saws.

Thanks for sharing the Partner website, Sedan.

I Looked at a partner cut-off saw a while back, and it looked suspiciously like a Jonsered 2094/2095 under the covers. Others here have said that the Jonsered 2094/2095 is an update to the Partners that were just being started into production when Elux took over...

makes sense for Elux to market a cut-off saw line, even though they don't put the red or orange names on it. Truth be told, Stihl dealers don't sell very many chop saws, and I doubt if Homie dealers ever did either...maybe the thinking was to completely avoid any brand dilution as long as they were going to market through industrial supply stores.

that dog good give bad memories about any saw.. i agree with john tho..
ive only owned one partner saw.. a 500.
got it for 25 bucks at the flea.. it turned out to be the fastest wore out saw ive ever seen.. still say it was a saw ahead of its time..wish i had a new one..
with 95 vp and 16 micro bar,,id lay an hundred on it against any stock saw ive seen to date.. i did like that saw.

I have a homelite saw here, a DM50 cut off saw. REAL BIG and LOUUUUD. Its similar to Stihls TS 400 I think, 4.5 cubic inces, and mighty tough to kill. I only need an ignition coil for it and I'm back in the game again, not bad when I only spent $125 on it with a siezed engine and just tore it apart cleaned it up some and got er' runnin for a few days then the coil went on me.

Short history lesson.

Electrolux when smaller years ago, owned Partner, Jonsereds, Husqvarna, Jobu, Skill, Poulan (from Emerson Electric), and Pioneer, saws thru buyouts.
Even owned the trade name, McCulloch outside the USA. Can see in Europe 'Muck A Luck' products vastly different than USA.
Ie., trimmers with Kawasaki engines were common.

When the mergers started taking place, in the USA the Pioneer distributors were much larger as a group than the Partner distributors.
Pioneer was losing market share mainly because of outdated design, reduced durability, translates into lower performance.

Decision was made to merger Partner & Pioneer.....because the distributors were larger. Yet, worldwide.... Partner was.

Most Pioneer distributors had another saw line they were pushing, so when they got Partner, they didn't really 'go to town' promoting it, and keeping up with dealers needs.

Even Poulan Pro began to get some saws, and designs also, which pissed off dealers because of the Big Boxes selling some Poulan models.

So, Pioneer/Partner slowly began to twist on the vine, and basically die, exept for the power cutters which they smartly kept seperate.

Partner was the Electrolux "brain trust"!!!
J-Reds, and Husky shared alot of Partners designs, parts, and slowly as Pioneer/Partner was dying it too was dropped in the USA. It wasn't the other way around....back then.

Remember, E'Lux owned Husqvarna saws, motor cycles, firearms, and it was a cleaner line without the problems of the other companies it owned.
So it...naturally.... became the 'favorite' name more and more.

Remember it well, because I was one of those guys who lost almost 35% of my income....in one month....just before Christmas that year, when the merger took place.
Needless to say, there were a few less presents that year.

Happily, still sell Partner power cutters.

Just bought a Partner cut off saw, they seem to be the top brand along with Stihl for cutoffs. Fired it up today for the first time and it seems to be mighty powerful:blob2:
