Hi there,
I'm looking for a business partner in the US who can provide me regularly with:
-used Stihl 070 and Stihl 090 powerheads
-used Stihl bars to fit these powerheads
-Alaskan mills to fit these bars
-1 used, but good working Woodmizer sawmill (LT40D).
Items got te be shipped to Surinam (South America). I can visit the US for further details and arrangements.

This sounds familiar. Like the guy in Nigeria looking to buy every antique tractor advertised for sale. He would ask you to ship the tractor and send you a false cashier's check over the cost and then want you to send back to him the difference. Stuff like that makes me head for the hills.

Maybe I've read the situation entirely wrong, in which case I apologize.

In any case, isn't the 070 or 090 still available in Brazil??

Chris B.

i hate to agree ,but theres people out there that use an otherwise real good mind ,,figuring ways to scam. if hes real,, ,hes aware that people gonna want real references.. if hes not ,hes gonna want u to assume a lot. be careful.jmo

All the stuff he's looking for is more available down there. 090s are in demand in the US because of all the racers. And shipping a Woodmizer to Surinam?

On the other hand, I seem to recall this fellow's posted here before on an unrelated topic.

BEWARE of South African deals!!!!!!!!!!

Last month on E-Bay, my son "sold" his pristine 1985 Honda 600cc? motorcycle to some guy in South Africa for $2,600 & S&H. Guy told him old Hondas bring a fortune in the 'bush country' because they hold up better, are alot easier to service, and parts are cheaper. They get alot of $$$ buy stripping them for parts.
Paid for the crating, export docs, etc.
Check drawn on the New York City Bank out of Florida.
Took the check to his bank manager, ran it thru the system, Account was closed back in March!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bank had to notify the US Secret Service who has been looking into a lot of fraud cases coming from South Africa.
Son called the guy about the account, he said, "It was the wrong account, please send the check back, and he'll send him another from a new account".
Son told him the Secret Service was notified, he hung up.
Strangely, he's never called back.

Hey guys- I dealt with this gentleman all through last year, to sell him saws and woodmizer mills for his south american adventure. I'm afraid I have to say it was a big waste of time. There was a lot of talk but no business actually took place. I'd say only get involved if you have a lot of extra time and money on your hands.

Ha ha ha ha!!!!

Hi there,
It seems that I don't need further introduction, everybody here seems to know me allready? Let's see, I was born in Nigeria, sold Honda's in South Africa, spent entire 2002 with some gentleman named Jacob J. (I think in the US) and finally migrated to Surinam!
Anyhow, the only people I contacted so far in the US and Canada are eBayers "lead_harvester" and "phyphe". They gave me honest and detailed information about the availability of the machines I'm looking for within their area. They had very few to none.
YES, these machines are sold in Surinam! For wealthy big time companies it's no problem purchasing several brandnew Stihl 070's and Stihl 090's! But if you don't have that kind of cash, you look for ways to spend less and still get the work done.
Anyways, we are starting up a small company here in Surinam to initially supply the local market.
Details about prices, payment, shipping etc. etc. are available for those seriously interested.

So, the price of shipping a 30lb chainsaw to Suriname doesn't make it cost as much as a new one?
Also, since this is not really a business bulletin board, how bout you tell us a little bit about what y'all do down there, we love a good story, especially if it involves big loud machinery.

Heck, I'll bite.
How much for a new 070 or 090 down there?
I'll take an 070, and 2 090's. Who sells "several new" saws of that generation?
Have them e-mail me the saws pronto, (they have my e-mail address, as I regularly launder millions of $$$ for them, helping to clear out deceased relatives bank accounts.) :D
I will send fresh confederate $'s back if saws will start.

If a legitimate dealer had those saws new, you could make a fortune shipping 'em over here.;)

P.S. E-bay is not exactly a braintrust, unless you want a 2-cycle boat anchor.
Cool picture, except the guy will soon be known as lefty.

Hello Ryan ( Walaba )-

I am "lead_harvester", from e-bay, and you and I talked back and forth for quite a time last year about dealing with saws and whatnot. As far as I can recall you were initially interested in many different models, not just the 070 or 090, which are rare here in the states. From what I can recall the shipping costs ended up to a point where it wasn't really going to save you much money anyways.

Hi Jason,
Good to hear from you again! As I recall, your last mail stated that "you were busy and didn't have much time to mail anymore".
Your pricelist stated US$740,- for a used Stihl 090 with 50" bar and US$800,- for a used Stihl 090 with 42" bar. If you add shipping costs and customs the total price nearly meets the price of a brandnew one.
Thanks woodbeard, I'll go and look for a business bulletin board.
A brandnew Stihl 090 AV, new bar and chain for US$1500,-.........
Lefty has left the building

Hey Ryan-

I'm not really sure the used 090s and 070s you'd come across in the states are really worth much money anymore. The ones I see at a decent price are usually pretty rough and have been through a few wringers. The ones in good shape are still worth a lot of money and the owners don't like to part with them. Last time we chatted we were having a busy fire season and so I didn't have much time to stay in contact with you. I did do some research later and found that mass shipping of saws, bars, and parts was the way to go. A crate weighing under 5,000 pounds could be forwarded to Brazil by boat for around $2200.00 U.S., and a lot of saws could be packed into that crate. The saws made at the Brazil plant have been traditionally lower quality than the other facilities Stihl has, but that may have changed in the last few years.

Can anyone actually imagine using a stock 090 in the jungle, when even a stock 385 would cut circles around it?
I have a chance to buy 2 090's and one 070, but havent seen them yet, but if they are as good as they sound, I may flip them for 2,500 US. + shipping.
John

Did anyone see the recent 090 on ebay in the milling package? I emailed the guy, and he said he had a couple more 090's but they were going to try and sell them in more milling packages. Here is a link to the Auction if anyone would like to try and see if he would sell one individuallly.

Rob

That seller restores old or used saws and then sells them in various "packages" with extra components to raise the price. While the saws look good, I've been a little uncomforatble with the prices of the some of the "packages", because you need to remember these are used saws, not new.
