Just out of Idle curiosity how many of you have a Partner in Business? I'm not talking about a family member or spouse like a friend you decided to go into business with? I've never seen to many of those partnerships work out very well.Usually one or the othe leave the partnership with harsh feelings towards the other. :blob2:

iv'e seen some great partnerships in action my brother-in law is in one ,they run an electrical bizz they get on great ,but dont see each other on a social basis very often...my father was in a partnership many years ago [haulage bizz] he couldn't wait to get rid of the partner ,too many differances of opinion...i have on many occasions when the chips are down thought about takeing on a partner..i doubt i ever will have one :D ...i will wait until my 2 sons join me :D

I had a partner when I first started out. That lasted for all of about 5 months. The deli I used to rent space at, there were 3 partners. They would hardly ever see eachother on a social basis. I think just at the 4th of July party, x-mas party, etc. Other than that, just at work. They have been working like that for over 12 years sucessfuly.

No more partners, for me ever . I've been in two.

Everything is fine and dandy when you start, then the relationship goes downhill slowly, then things get ugly toward the end. Both sides always seem to have a different point of view of the relationship, one side seems to try and take advantage of the other or views the other as not holding up their end as promised. This is what causes fights and bitter feelings.

If you can't be the captain of your own ship and run it on your way, then it is best not to run it at all .

I think a partnership would work, if both sides started with nothing and built up from that point. If one side has more than the other it doesn't work out.

Going into a partnership is a good way to destroy a friendship or cause a rift in a family.  As has been suggested, it's been my experience that a partnership should be just a business/professional relationship to work out at all.
