The Chinese are at it again apparently. The link below is a PDF of a letter Petzl sent to dealers last Friday PM. Since it is now public, I beleive I can release it to AS members.

Let the Buyer Beware! Great deals are not always a good deal. Though these pirated goods haven't been found in the US, non-traditional sellers on EB, CL or other sites may be questionable sources for Life Support systems such as tree climbing gear.

Established dealers buy directly from the manufacturer - not middlemen or discount wholesalers. Some of these wholesalers sell Chinese knockoffs directly to the tree industry, but they also have the reputation of doing so. (PM me?)

You get what you pay for, don't put your or your employees life on the line.

hate to say this

I personally feel that Petzl equipment is grossly over priced. I also don't approve of counterfiters either. I believe the chinese could make a product as well as Petzl, and sell it a fraction of the cost of a Petzl. That being the case it sends fear into the heart of Petzl that their small nitch in the market could be invaded

I also went to the petzl web site and nothing about counterfit merchandise was mentioned anywhere, how strange.
