I use one as a backup to my kong double handle ascenders, attached with small screw links to the bottom of the ascenders and the tether. This serves as a backup for single line. It is quick, light, small and simple. For backing up double line footlocking, whic is my preference on short ascents, I keep my climbing hitch above the ascenders and clip the biner into one of the handle openings and then use the croll below on the second line.

I've used the system at penn-del competitions, and roachy said that the system would be flagged at the ITTC, because the manufacturer does not recommend clipping biners into the handle holes. From a practical standpoint, I think it makes sense to use this as a back up. It is quick, easy, and bothe sides of the line are effectively backed up. The friction hitch above the ascenders tends to keep them free of twigs and leaves. I wonder what Tom D. would say about it though.

Yep, I use the Croll when climbing SRT, along with a foot ascender (the new CMI unit doesn't unclip like the petzl), and a handled ascender with a foot tether above the croll. I agree with silvrmaple - get the harness as it helps keep the croll in place.
